On a deserted industrial planetoid, a lonely robotic puppy has been left behind amongst the giant machinery to rust in the burning heat. He lies miserable and lifeless in a small room. He wakes up in excitement when a space ship lands and runs to meet the visitor. He soon finds the android visitor, who is strangely obsessed with a mysterious spherical chamber and finds the pup's attempts at friendship rather repugnant.
